You can use Twitter to TAKE UP your time, by keeping the world updated on personal junk.
OR
You can use Twitter as a valuable marketing tool, by telling the world what you’re doing for them.
—
Who really cares?
Let’s face it. You’re not adding any value to anyone’s time, or yours, by turning Twitter into your personal activity tracking system. Who cares if you’re baking brownies, or going to get gas, or that you have gas?
I think they’re called personal statuses, right? Warlock rip
Sheep Dog divx
Facebook is the king of personal statuses. Why should we go further and make it a full time activity?
—
So why use Twitter?
Twitter is a great mini-blogging/mini-updates tool for personal and or business branding. It’s a feed that’s being checked constantly(because it’s being updating constantly).
This immediate interaction provides great opportunities for marketing to your audience.
Thus, it doesn’t waste time(if you use it right)
—
So let’s stop using Twitter like a bunch of morons.
Use it to benefit you, or don’t use it @ all.

I spent a lot of time building large apps and writing tons of code that never saw the light of day. While at the same time I watched less experienced coders get a head quicker by building small scripts. Why didn’t I see what I was doing wrong? Because I thought quality chewed up quantity every time.
But the thing is, this is only half true. Then She Found Me video
See, quality in it’s self only matters to a certain extent. Quality doesn’t always mean progress. A Ferrari won’t let you take your kids to soccer practice. There needs to be a certain balance between quality and quantity.
Progress shouldn’t be sacrificed for perfection.
Most people appreciate quality. But sacrificing quality for progress won’t ensure that your product/application/song/book will be a hit.
It also doesn’t give you a whole lot to trip over and learn from.
For an example, take this blog. All of my posts haven’t been perfect, and by making mistakes I’ve learned how to become a better writer. Now if I would have decided that each one of my posts were going to be perfect King Kong video Killer Bean Forever full
and on target every time(in other words, better than everyone else’s) Hide and Seek the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire on dvd
I would have made around 4-5 posts in the 8 months I’ve been blogging. In fact I might have not even started this blog if I decided to be perfect. Looking back to my first few blogs, the mistakes I made(and not the ones I avoided) were MOST valuable.
The progressive man learns from his mistakes on the way and as a result continues to progress. The perfectionist doesn’t think he’s making any mistakes, until the end when it’s too late.
Make SURE you’re making progress.
Don’t decide to become better ALL AT ONCE. Quality comes in layers. Your product(s) will improve incrementally.

Today I made a decision. I’m saying good bye to Auto responders. I’m talking about the Auto responders that let you send an (impersonal) Direct Message to your new Twitter followers.
It’s doesn’t take effort to set up an Auto responder and it saves time. They’re also a piss off to new followers.
The Boxer full
The future of social networking is about people and personality. Not machines and automation. Slumdog Millionaire on dvd
Why do we need an Auto responder anyways? Are we pressed for time? Are we celebrities with an 30,000+ followers? Are we just too busy to take the time to appreciate new potential clients?
Hell it only takes 30-40 minute’s every day to send out a few nice personal messages to the people who thought you were worth following.
Is your time so important that you need to risk turning off people who could benefit YOU?
The Italian Job trailer
Instead of your new followers feeling appreciated they get burnt when reading your “I’m too busy but here’s a nice little duplicated message(already read by my 721+ other followers), oh and BTW, please take the time out of YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE to click my junk:):):D”
People appreciate personality because, in the Information Age, automation is THE cheap and worthless way to say, THANK YOU!
Doing this you’ll have a better attitude toward your self.
Your new followers will have a better attitude toward you.
Everyone wins!

I had another brainwave on this topic and decided to make a PART 2! If you haven’t read my first post, “Successfully Selling Yourself On Twitter”, you can read it here.
I’ve decided to share two more tips with you on how to promote your personal or company brand on Twitter. Here they are:
Continued Tip #1. STAY on topic. If you want people to stay(or become) interested in your brand you need to keep them reminded. Try to keep every tweet related to your bio(or your brand or occupation).
For example, tweets like,
“going to bed, good night everyone”
or
“I’m going to work in 10 minute’s”
or
“I’m hungry, going to find something to eat”.
These are all very good, but they don’t remind anyone about your brand.
If instead you made tweets like,
“Merry Christmas from everyone at [MY COMPANY]“
or
“Re-wrote a [CLIENT'S SITE] in PHP, going to bed good night.”
or
“[this and this technology related to my business] has just released version 2.5! – http://linklink.com”
It ensures that you’re getting the word out, to some extent. Combine your personal daily activities with promoting your brand.
Continued Tip #2. Follow people in YOUR field. Try to follow people, who mainly do what you do. This way you won’t be getting a bunch of uninteresting updates. Also, there’s more of a chance that the followers of extended networks will follow you. But don’t isolate your self, people from other fields are interesting to. Chances are they might be interested in your brand and, in turn, follow you back.
I hope this helps you build quality around your Twitter network. And of course if you enjoyed this post you can always follow me on Twitter!
