Who's Really Your Friend?(in social media land)

First of all:

Five Easy Pieces ipod

I hope everyone had a great New Years. ‘09 is finally here and we can start living up to those resolutions we made. Hopefully the “I’ll never drink again” one wasn’t one you decided to make after waking up on New years day..:D Anyways it’s going to be a great year and I have a tone of plans.

NOW Back on topic!

In the world of social media, it’s easy to see a person as just another profile. All you have to do is add them or wait for a reply…YAY 1 up. AND the more friends you have the more important you look, right? And the more “thx 4 da add” comments you have the better you feel, sorta…

The truth is, if you haven’t been using social media to build relationships(or keep in touch) you might be wasting your time. Blade II release

Then She Found Me film

Kate & Leopold release

Social media is changing. ‘09 is about going back to the basics. Yeah 2,000 friends on your band page might look impressive but they’re all going to become useless unless you start making an effort.

Building relationships is important, especially in times like these, and it’s something that cheap friendship can’t really give.

The Killing Fields divx

You can easily become numbed Road House

by Social Media. It’s not like there’s a REAL person at the other end of the rope. It’s not like these people really are interested in YOU…

Does their cheap form of friendship show through? What do their actions say? Even more important, what do your actions say?

We’re all like starving kids from a 3rd world country, waiting for a piece of bread. And the person who reaches out is the one we show our loyalty to.
In a sense we’re starving(in the social media world) for some type of personality. For any signs that there’s a human behind that avatar.

People aren’t hard to get along with. It’s kind of like magic(well more like common sense). Show that you’re a human, and people will appreciate it. buy Little Nicky

They’ll be like, “Wow, this person is actually making a personal effort! In my part.” Now days that makes all the difference.

So lets start being a little more careful who we call our friends.

This last part involves a little effort(ouch). It’s also extremely simple: The people who you can call a friend should be in your friends list. People who you don’t know, or just see you as a one up, shouldn’t be in your friends list. These people don’t care about you and haven’t taken the time to either.

Make a effort toward the person. Don’t make hasty judgments. Accept a person for being different. Take the initiative before deciding to remove them from your friends, or follows, etc.

I hope this of some help.

Thanks for the follow now *SLAP*(Why I stopped automating Twitter)

Today I made a decision. I’m saying good bye to Auto responders. I’m talking about the Auto responders that let you send an (impersonal) Direct Message to your new Twitter followers.

It’s doesn’t take effort to set up an Auto responder and it saves time. They’re also a piss off to new followers.

The future of social networking is about people and personality. Not machines and automation. Slumdog Millionaire on dvd

Uncross the Stars release

Why do we need an Auto responder anyways? Are we pressed for time? Are we celebrities with an 30,000+ followers? Are we just too busy to take the time to appreciate new potential clients?
Hell it only takes 30-40 minute’s every day to send out a few nice personal messages to the people who thought you were worth following.

Is your time so important that you need to risk turning off people who could benefit YOU?

The Italian Job trailer

Instead of your new followers feeling appreciated they get burnt when reading your “I’m too busy but here’s a nice little duplicated message(already read by my 721+ other followers), oh and BTW, please take the time out of YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE to click my junk:):):D”

People appreciate personality because, in the Information Age, automation is THE cheap and worthless way to say, THANK YOU!

Doing this you’ll have a better attitude toward your self.
Your new followers will have a better attitude toward you.

Everyone wins!

Mark Bao & Jessica Mah—Inspiration For Young Entrepreneurs!

Just recently I read a post at the Personal Branding Blog. They had an interview of two young entrepreneurs, Mark Bao

Intervention on dvd

Sweet Insanity dvdrip

and Jessica Mah. I thought this was pretty cool.

These two young entrepreneurs don’t use their age as an excuse. They’ve decided to take life by the horns a go big instead of going along with the crowed. Anyone who sees this has to admire the mind set of these two outstanding teens.

People like Mark and Jessica motivate me to action. It’s a reminder that young people can do just as well as adults when it comes to the business world. Instead of finding excuses, the younger generation should recognize the advantages they have. No wife, no kids, no real debt, a fresh start to everything. Starting young is the best time as any to start a career. If you don’t think so better take note of the y-generation.

I’ve also decided to handle things differently. Instead of using school as an excuse I’ve decided to manage it. The reality of knowing that, in ten years, I could be way busier, with family, is something that gives me energy to continue on now. If I keep at it, within ten years, I can accomplish more than I ever thought possible. And that alone is worth a try.

Some of us can sit back and say, “I don’t need the money” or “I’m comfortable”. Thing is, you’re not the only one who needs you to be successful. Think of all the starving people in this world, think of your family, think of the people around you. You may not need to reach your full potential but your life and the lives of others will benefit greatly if you decide to go big. Think about it.

Successfully Selling Yourself on Twitter!

Why do some Twitterers have 2,000+ followers while others have barely any? For me, Twitter has become a great networking tool for driving traffic, making new friends and enhancing my web presence.

Follow my personal tips to get on your way to becoming successful at using Twitter:

#1 Add a REAL Picture of Yourself! Be Human. Killer Bean Forever movie download
To look professional and let people know that your human. Add a picture of yourself. Make sure it’s nice, not one of those awful ones where you just got out of bed. Also Add your real name. jack452 doesn’t look as professional as “Jack M. Golden”. Your real name is much more important than a sloppy username. Chose your username wisely. Then make SURE you add your real name after your signed up.

#2 Be Professional Nights and Weekends video

Make sure everything about your profile appearance says, “I’m serious about what I do.” Add your site URL, set the colors, make it look good. Make sure your profile as well as your tweets are grammatically correct, and avoid looking spammy.

#3 Match your profile with your brand

Reality Bites movies

Set the colors of your profile to match your blog, web site and overall brand. Whether it’s a personal or business brand. Doing this, people will make people “feel more at home” with your twitter profile.

#4 Let People Know YOU ARE Important
People are more ready to follow you if you’re “a someone”. Don’t be a dick BUT at the same time show some pride in what you do. Talk about your achievements, make sure people know who you are.

#5 Follow Important People, Follow They’re Friends, and show Genuine Interest in their brands.
Showing interest in other people’s brands, they’ll appreciate it and follow you back. This is why they’re using Twitter, to get their brand out. When you recognize who they are and respect them, they’ll do the same.

#6 YOUR Bio is IMPORTANT!!!

Not as a Stranger dvd Up Periscope dvdrip

Your Bio is important! DON’T overlook it. This is where people miss out. Personally I barely ever follow any one who doesn’t have a clean Bio. Make sure you get this part right. It should be relevant and appealing. This is really the BIGGEST factor in selling yourself on Twitter.

#7 Use a Custom Background Image

Tamara House of Usher release

Custom backgrounds are important also. I would say this is the fourth biggest factor in selling your self on Twitter. Aside from your name and Bio, picture and proper name the background will allow you to add a special little image where you can add another picture of yourself or an extended Bio. It’s also a great chance to make others aware of your presence on other social media sites.

#8 Follow Me!
