Today on Twitter I noticed #skittles was the most talked about trending topic. So I was like what the hell. And then I saw @Armano

Skittles took down its web site and is aggregating its self over a number of social network sites. [Check it out here ]
We’re involved in a lot of activities now days. Mainly to do with the Internet.
The question is how much of this activity is getting you somewhere?
How much of this activity is preventing you from real action
? Are you busy because you’re involved in something important or are you just busy because you have too many activities on your hands?
We have to learn that our activities aren’t worth a whole lot. The reason for this is that we think simply being busy and ACTING are one and the same.
As Seth Godin put it:
Today, reading and posting and linking and networking and connecting and commenting and podcasting and linkblurbling and doseedoing online all feel like essential marketing tasks. They certainly keep you busy.
But is the activity getting in the way of action?
Is the online work you’re doing actually leading you where you want to go, or merely keeping you busy?
Dmitri calls this “imitation of turbulent activity”…
Are you wasting time on something that doesn’t benefit you?
…Instead of being on MySpace could you be reading and taking in knowledge.
…Instead of reading the news you could be driving traffic to your blog.
…Instead of using to Twitter to post links to random fun fact blog posts use it to build credibility and drive traffic.
In a nutshell, what activities are you involved in that are getting you no where and yet taking up your precious time? This time could be used to get real stuff done.
Differentiate between what’s just taking up your time and what’s helping you grow, and then eliminate what’s merely taking up your time.
It will help you relax and give you clarity.
MySpace’s brand new joint venture music site launches tonight. Sony, Warner, EMI and Universal are all in on the deal. However, there are some concerns of an anti-trust lawsuit arising.
According to Michael Arrington
the MySpace Music will also be used to discover new music(Like on Imeem or Last.fm):
This isn’t just streaming music on demand. The playlist functionality and sharing will let users discover new music as well from the 5 million artists (a mix of major, unknown, and indie acts) that populate MySpace Music.
MySpace will promote popular playlists from users and will also create their own Top 100 lists from all users as well as just your friends, coworkers, etc. So each user will have personalized music recommendations from their friends. [ Read Full Article ]
I’m still not sure if this is enough of a reason for me to use MySpace. However, this will be a big deal for most music artists. Independent artists can also use MySpace Music so it will be a big deal for them also.
As far a competition goes, I don’t know how this will have an affect on Imeem, Last.fm, ITunes etc. There’s also some controversy over weather or not the joint venture is breaking competition laws. Is there some antitrust and price discrimination going on with MySpace?

I think if MySpace was ever going to open a music site, there’s no time like the present. MySpace just HAD to act to keep them alive. They have a fan base that every social network envies. But the fact is, MySpace sucks compared to other popular networks in the design and functionality sense.
This was a smart move, MySpace needs to get into the groove of things because their somewhat lagging, but it might just be my opinion.
It’s suppose to launch tonight at 9:00, so we’ll see how it goes.
I recently ran across an article, “Post Now, and Forever Wish You Hadn’t“ about information we post on social networks, blogs and forums about our selves. This is one of the problems with social networking and people’s openness to it. Much of this private information could be viewed by your current or future boss, “or your mom” or grandma or great ant.
A CareerBuilder.com survey published last week shows that 20% of employers are now researching social networks when considering job candidates.
People will add everything about themselves on social networks. What drugs they do. “How drunk I was last night”, and the pictures and videos to prove it. Does your boss or business associate really need to see how much of a looser you are on a Friday night? Probably Not.
What if your grandma types your name in Google tomorrow? Will there be a web cam picture of you drunk with a cigarette being held up by two ugly drunk chicks who you don’t remember anyways?
Rockey Mountain News even went so far as to add Twitter updates on a 3 year old girl’s funeral.

I think we have to use a bit of discretion when we’re posting content, pictures, videos etc. about our selves on the internet. We need to ask ourselves, “Does this look bad?”, “Can this have an affect on my image?” If all else fails, use common sense
