SVN GUI or SVN Command-Line?
After a few months of using a graphical Subversion client on Ubuntu I’m tempted to just go back to basics and use command-line instead.
After switching to Gentoo I’ve tried to come up with new ideas or try out new methods to see what really works the best in a development environment.
The problem with a graphical interface SVN is the lack of functionality. Using command-line you can do anything you want functionality wise. However, I do like Kompaire(a Linux file comparison program) that seems to work great with KDESVN. I think a balance of both is in order though. Using command-line for the majority of my work but still use a SVN GUI for viewing files, since the command-line is not always so clear when listing files. Also using it from command line, I would learn what is really behind Subversion, making it easier all around.
What I’m looking for is a client that provides the same functionality as command-line yet has a clean and simple file viewing browser. Might be an idea I could consider during learning Java and software programming in the future.
Anyways, does anyone know of a program thats better than KDESVN for Linux? Feel free to drop a comment!:)
